Summary:Description This data set of boundaries between oceanic and continental crust is based on the data set from Müller et al. (2016) with numerous modifications. We used a recent review of COB locations from Eagles et al. (2015) to re-evaluate alternative proposed COB locations, considered COB-related structures visible in the vertical gravity gradient grid (Sandwell et al., 2014) and consulted a number of recent papers proposing revised COB locations (Bond et al., 2023; Cowie et al., 2017; Funck et al., 2022; Guan et al., 2019; Mercier de Lépinay et al., 2016; Mortimer et al., 2020).The data set is made available as gpmlz file readable with open-source GPlates, pyGPlates and GPlately software (see www.gplates.org) and as ESRI shapefile.
