Description
Summary:Eversmannia exornata (Eversmann) (Fig. 4) Material examined. 2 ♂, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, “Grushevyi Sad”, 10.VII.2010. Distribution. Russia (S RFE: S * Sakhalin, Primorskii Krai, S Khabarovskii Krai, Amurskaya Oblast; S and SW Siberia except for Buryatia and most of Zabaikalskii Krai, middle of European Part of Russia —north up to ~ 61– 62°N in S Karelia, S Arkhangelsk Oblast, S Komi, and south to ~ 52°N in Bryanskaya Oblast, Tambovskaya Oblast and Saratovskaya Oblast), Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu), North Korea, N China (eastern Inner Mongolia: Big Chingan Mts.—BOLD sequence ID: GWOR5259-09, GBIF occurrence 1415504236), SE Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, E Belarus. Remarks. The finding of E. exornata in Sakhalin significantly expands its distribution range to the northeast. Literature data on the distribution of the species in China and India are strongly doubtful (Sohn & Yen 2005). The photo of “ Epiplema exornata (Eversmann) ” in Zhu et al. (2004: 251, pl. VII: fig. 15) well corresponds to Dysaethria cretacea (Butler), and the hostplants indicated for this species— Clerodendrum japonicum (Lamiaceae) and Quercus (Fagaceae)—are doubtful for E. exornata . However, presence of E. exornata in China is quite expected at least in Heilongjiang and Jilin.
