Summary: | In July 1811, explorer David Thompson happened upon the Okanogan River. The Hudson Bay Company settled at the River's mouth, and built the stockade called Fort Okanogan. On July 3, 1911 people of surrounding towns came together to honor and commemorate the Fort's anniversary with a flag raising ceremony. The Commercial Club of Okanogan donated the flagpole and flag.
