In this photo, the pole is surrounded by stands for a fireworks display, and is in front of the Northern Pacific Railroad ticket office. The photo comes from an album given to Homer Hill by Seattle City Engineer R.H. [Reginald Heber] Thomson; most album images depict the installation of a water supply system for Seattle.
