Description
Summary:Rev. Russel Pederson Owns Many Alaskan Indian Curios. Rev. Russell Pederson Owns Many Alaskan Indian Curios When Rev. Russell F. Pederson returned to Spokane this week from Wrangel, Alaska, where he is pastor of the First Presbyterian church, he brought many interesting curios. In this picture he is showing his mother, Mrs. M. A. Pederson, some of the articles. In his hand is a headdress which once belonged to a Thalingit Indian chief. It has an ermine cape. Mrs. Pederson is holding a raven knife which is said to have been used in the massacre of a group of sailors about the time of Captain Cook. Hanging in the background is a Thalingit Chilkat ceremonial blanket made of mountain sheep wool. The design depicts a killer whale diving. The Rev. Mr. Pederson leaves today for Syracuse, N. Y., to attend the general assembly of the Presbyterian church later this month.
