Summary:Leaving Alaska And Yukon: Exodus Is In Larger Numbers Than Usual. LEAVING ALASKA AND YUKON Exodus Is in Larger Numbers Than Usual. VICTORIA, B. C, Oct. 16.—Outbound Alaskans and Yukon territory residents are pouring into AVhlte Horse, Y. T., and Skagway, Alaska, in such large numbers that a serious problem is being faced, C. J. Rogers, purchasing agent of the White Pass and Yukon Railway company, declared here today. A special steamer may be sent north to relieve the traffic congestion. Between October 16 and 21 fully 800 people from Fairbanks, Kuby, Dawson and other Yukon valley points will reach White Horse on Yukon river steamboats. At Hdrse they will take trains for Skagway, where they will await the southbound steamers. High costs in the interior and high wages on the outside, it is said, are bringing this unprecedented number out.
