Summary:Oranges Speeded To Remote Alaskan City. ORANGES SPEEDED TO REMOTE ALASKAN CITY NOME, Alaska, May 7.—(TOR)— This remote Alaskan town marveled today at the speed of modern transportation. Six days ago a shipment of oranges left Los Angeles for Nome. Today they had arrived, setting a speed record for shipment of fruit from far-away California. The oranges were flown from Los Angeles to Seattle via United Airlines. They were transferred from the airliner to the steamer Juneau and transported to Juneau, Alaska. A Pacific Alaska Airways plane flew them from Juneau to Nome, establishing the record.
