KETCHIKAN, Alaska, Oct. 15. —Exploration of the northern section of Kosciusko island and the finding of two previously unmapped objects, a large lake and a mountain, was reported today by Dr. Stefan Jarosz. Polish scientist and geographer, on his return from a summer on the island, named for the famed American Revolutionary war hero. He said he expected to return to Alaska after two years and examine Romer glacier, at Glacier bay, named after the polish geographer. Kosciusko island is in southeastern Alaska Dr. Jarosz described an encounter with, a large female brown bear, which approached within 10 feet of him. Unarmed, he said, he could not defend himself, nor could he run to safety. With his "bear dog" cringing between his legs, he laughed loudly at the dog's antics and the bear turned and walked away.
