Description
Summary:Make "New Nome" Modern: Business Streets To Be Relocated And 90 Feet Wide. MAKE "NEW NOME" MODERN Business Streets to Be Relocated and 90 Feet Wide. NOME, Alaska, Sept. 30. (/P)—A "new Nome," with wider streets, a new business district and modern buildings will arise from the $3,000,- 000 fire disaster of 13 days ago through plans completed today by the FERA relief committee. Their work shows a complete new plan for the business district, with streets to be 90 feet wide. In the spring, leaders said, permanent building will be done, along entirely modern lines. The relocation of the streets in the business district is possible because it was nearly entirely wiped out by the fire, along with much of the residential area.
