Description
Summary:Eskimos Receive Supplies: North Star Unloads Cargo At Barrow And Starts South. ESKIMOS RECEIVE SUPPLIES Barrow, Alaska, Sept. 11.—UP)— The Indian bureau motorship North Star, its supplies for starving Eskimas discharged, pressed through the ice-choked Arctic ocean today southwest toward Wainwright. Although the winter ice pack was forming, the North Star remained until Its mission was accomplished. For a time it appeared probable the vessel might be forced to seek shelter on the Arctic shore and remain frozen to the ice until next summer. Pood and other supplies landed from the ship were believed by residents here to be ample to relieve a condition which threatened to decimate the Eskimo population along the Arctic coast.
