Description
Summary:Tear Down Buildings To Get Coffin Wood. TEAR DOWN BUILDINGS TO GET COFFIN WOOD POINT BARROW, Alaska, May 6. (AP)—Healthy Eskimos of this outpost of the far north tore down buildings today to make coffins for victims of an influenza epidemic, while the lone medical missionary took six Eskimos to "The White Man's Heaven," as the natives call his hospital. The ice pack locked the harbor. Influenza struck down 300, killed 11, with more expected to die today. An airplane which came north from Nome brought no serum. There was a shortage of food.
