Summary:Rush To Leave Alaska: Extra Steamer Sent Hurriedly To Anchorage./Last Ship From Nome Will Have Capacity Load -- Yukon River Is Closed. RUSH TO LEAVE ALASKA EXTRA STEAMER SENT HURRIEDLY TO ANCHORAGE. Last Ship From Nome Will Have Capacity Load—Yukon River Is Closed. SEATTLE, Oct. 22.—With nearly every port in Alaska besitged with persons desiring transportation to the states, the Pacific Steamship company has arranged to send the steamship Admiral Watson on a rush trip to Anchorage. After delivering a special freight consignment for the Alaskan engineering commission the vessel will call at southwestern and southeastern Alaska ports southbound in an effort to relieve the congestion. The Watson is due from Nome tomorrow and will be sent north as soon as she can be dispatched. No stops will be made between Seattle and Anchorage northbound, as navigation in Cook Inlet closes about November 1. Nome Boat Loaded to Capacity. Nome, Alaska, Oct. 22. -- On the last outbound run of the year, the steamer Victoria will leave here Friday with a capacity load of passengers. So many Alaskans want to take passage on her that there may not be room for all. The government has been asked to let the Victoria take 200 passengers more than her licensed number. Nearly all the men going on the steamer will be assigned the steerage as the cabins have been reserved for the large number of women and children leaving. About 400 people will spend the winter icebound here. In the gold stampede days thousands usually wintered in Nome. Ice Closes Yukon to Boating. Dawson, N. T. Oct. 22. -- Navigation on the Yukon river closed for the winter today. A mail launch arriving from White Horse, Y. T., ran the last 50 miles through floating ice. Over 400 outbound Alaskans yesterday left White Horse for Skagway and the states. This is believed the alrgest number ever leaving the Yukon valley.
