Alaskan Volcanoes May Affect Weather WASHINGTON, April 27.—(U.P) —Volcanoes in Iceland or Alaska may help make weather in Kansas and Pennsylvania, Prof. W. J. Humphreys of the United States weather bureau told the American Geophysical union today. Terrific explosions of these volcanoes hurl vast clouds of fine dust far into the air. Volcanic dust, if present in the upper air in sufficient quantity, may cause chill, rainy summers and severe winters, together with the appearance of strange rings around the sun and blood-red sunsets.
