Description
Summary:Huskies Grapple With Bad Moose To Save Hunters. HUSKIES GRAPPLE WITH BAD MOOSE TO SAVE HUNTERS SEWARD, Alaska.—(U.P.)—Saved by their sled dogs from death under the flying hoofs of a savage bull moose, Jack Lean, big game country trapper, and Charles Whitmarsh, hunter, were home safe today. The moose crushed their sled and turned to trample the men when the lead dog, dragging four others of the team with him, wheeled to battle and fought off the animal. Lean was knocked from the sled runners into a narrow ditch and lay helpless on his back in the snow when the moose reared at him. Whitmarsh was thrown in among the dogs when the moose charged.
