Summary:Mary Joyce, Arrived Safely At Tetling. MARY JOYCE, ARRIVED SAFELY AT TETLING FAIRBANKS, Alaska, Feb. 29.— (/P)—Pilot Joe Crosson, veteran Alaska "mercy flyer," tonight radioed from his airplane Mary Joyce, 27, overdue on a 1,000-mile dog sled trek from Southeastern Alaska to Fairbanks, had arrived at Tetling, 160 miles southeast of here. Crosson said Miss Joyce was safe and mushed out of Tetling for Tanana Crossing, ninety-five miles distant, expecting to arrive there tomorrow. The Alaskan flyer, who left Loon Lake, Wash., yesterday morning with Walter Hall as co-pilot, flew into Whitehorse, Y. T., at 5:15 p. m. yesterday. The flyers are expected in Fairbanks tomorrow afternoon. Their airplane is equipped with a new type of skis for Arctic weather. Miss Joyce left Taku, sixty-five miles south of Juneau, December 20, 1935, with a team of five dogs. She carried her own supplies, a camera and letters from Territorial Governor John W. Troy to Mayor E. B. Collins, of Fairbanks.
