(fp)—Fairbanks awaited the arrival today of Pilot Jack Herman and four passengers, safe at Nulato after being forced down Friday by lack o£ gasoline. Herman's transport plane was forced down Friday 20 miles from Kaltag, he said after arriving at Knlato yesterday. Donning snowshoes, he related, he and his passengers walked to a supply station and obtained sufficient fuel to proceed to Nulato, 35 mUes away. Nulato is 310 miles west of Fairbanks on the Yukon river. Herman's passengers are Deputy U. S. Marsh"1 Nelson Anderson, Teddy Nielsen, 10-—-r-old Bethel boy, Dr. Morton Meyers and William Chenoy of Akiak. The boy and Anderson boarded the plane at Bethel, Meyers and Chenoy at Akiak. All were en route here to attend a court session. Failure of the plane to arrive here Friday night led to a search being started by other aviators. It was called off upon receipt o£ word the plane and its occupants were safe. The search was the second instituted for Herman and passengers this winter. Herman, with five passengers, was forced down November 1 near Cassiar. He and his passengers made themselves comfortable in a roadhouse until found by aviators.
