Description
Summary:Death Has Head Start. Death Has Head Start. Fairbanks, Alaska, Feb. 9.—-UP)— An airplane pilot raced with death over the frozen tundra between Ruby and Fairbanks today and lost—because death had won before the flight Pilot Jack Herman, flying in 50 degrees below zero weather, brought Mrs. Charles Fisher and her daughter, Dolly Fisher, 250 miles from Ruby in a night flight, made because Charles Fisher was reported to be dying in a hospital here. The women stepped from the ship to the beacon-lighted field and friends told them Fisher was dead before they left Ruby. Fisher came north in the goldrush days and ran the Old Glory cafe in Dawson, Y. T., when the town was filled with gold seekers.
