Description
Summary:Scientists Hop For Barrow. SCIENTISTS HOP FOR BARROW. JUNEAU, May 22.— (I.N.S.) — Two University of Pennsylvania scientists, Dr. Horaee Pettit and Dr. Dickinson S. Pepper, were speeding northward today in a'specially chartered plane for Point Barrow, Alaska, via Fairbanks. The scientists will take specimens of the influenza virus and blood serum of the victims of the Point Barrow epidemic which claimed fifteen victims. Dr. Pettit declare he and his companion will remain only long enough to complete their work of extracting blood specimens from the victims and then fly back here to catch the southbound steamer out of Juneau Monday. Both scientists believe that the specimens will prove highly beneficial in developing new methods of combating the disease.
