Description
Summary:Missing Flyers Sighted Sunday: Almoslino's Plane, Flying Off Course, Seen By Lighthouse Tender. MISSING FLYERS SIGHTED SUNDAY Almoslino's Plane, Flying Off Course, Seen by Lighthouse Tender. KETCHIKAN, Alaska, April 10. (/P) —The lighthouse tender at Tree Point, about 30 miles east of here, reported to the coast guard cutter Alert today he had sighted Pilot Albert Almoslino's missing seaplane flying north at 4 p. m. Sunday. In a wireless message here, the Alert's commander said the ship would search north of the point for Almoslino and his bride of two weeks, formerly Joan McDonald of Spokane, who became six days overdue today on a flight from Seattle. Almoslino's pontoon-equipped monoplane was flying close to the point and apparently was headed up Revillagigedo channel northeast of Ketchikan and off its course, the Alert said. This report indicated the Almoslinos had flown at least 125 miles after a cannery tender sighted them bucking a storm over Grandville channel in northern British Columbia waters two hours earlier. A dispatch from Prince Rupert, B. C, said an unconfirmed report had been received there that the missing flyers were safe at Lowe inlet on Grenville channel, 75 miles south of Prince Rupert. BRIDE'S GRANDMOTHER HERE. At N4818 Smith is the young bride's grandmother, Mrs. E. F. Fraser, who is waiting anxiously for some word of good cheer from her missing granddaughter. The wedding was at the home of the Rev. Henry A. Van Winkle, pastor of the Central Christian church on March 14. "I'm so worried, but Albert is regarded as a good pilot and a good mechanic," said Mrs. Fraser. "They were oh their way to Alaska, where Albert was going to fly for some concern for six months. Albert jowns his own airplane. It is one that 'can land on the water."
