Description
Summary:Herald Aviator Hero Of Crash. HERALD AVIATOR HERO OF CRASH. KETCHIKAN, Alaska, May 5. (CP) —The heroism of Pilot James Dodson, former University of Washington student, was hailed today while he and two others began the road to recovery from injuries received in a plane crash in which another man lost his life. Dodson, despite a broken ankle and a broken nose, pulled the men from the wrecked plane after it had plunged into Karta lake, 50 miles inland, Sunday night and set out for help on a raft made from the plane's pontoons. He rowed five miles along the lake until a rescue plane appeared. Before leaving his companions, he got them to the beach and forced them to lie on the cushions and door of the plane.
