A. Burke and two months, abandoned their plane after a forced landing in the Liard river and headed for Wolfe lake, 50 miles away, Pilot E. L. Wasson reported today on his return to White Horse, Yukon. Wasson sighted Burke's plane 10 days ago from the air and several days later flew to within 15 miles of the machine and "mushed" the said a message, carved on a tree near Burke's plane, said they left October 17 for Wolfe lake. They were badly in need of food.
