Summary:Alaskan Air Mail Bids Are Advertised. ALASKAN AIR MAIL BIDS ARE ADVERTISED WASHINGTON, Oct. 16. (/P)-The postoffice department advertised today for bids on two airmail routes in Alaska, the first leg in a trunk route from Fairbanks and Juneau into the United States. Bids will be opened December 15, and contracts will be for three years. Successful bidders will be required to begin operations not later than six months after contracts are awarded. One of the routes is from Juneau to White Horse, Yukon Territory, 168 miles. The other is from Fairbanks to White Horse, 492 miles. These routes, connecting at White Horse, will afford a through or connecting service from Juneau, in southeastern Alaska, to Fairbanks, from which point several ailmail routes now are operating to remote and distant points in the territory.
