S. navy planes of squadron VP-7 took off from Sitka today on a secret flight westward over the Alaska peninsula and the Aleutian islands. The ships will be serviced by two U. S. naval vessels during their maneuvers and observations to the westward. Squadrons 9 and 12, which arrived yesterday, remained in this vicinity, making short reconnaissance flights over Juneau and the surrounding country.
