Description
Summary:War Declared On Fish Pirates. WAR DECLARED ON FISH PIRATES By Associated Press. KETCHIKAN, Alaska, June 29.—Major fish trap operators declared war today on pirates who have long reaped rich harvests by hijacking the contents of isolated traps. Gunplay and other forms of violence have figured in some of the bolder forays and now and then a trap watchman disappears and his trap is found looted. Operators said they will floodlight more than 100 traps in the Ketchikan area this summer, to prevent fish trap pirates working under cover of night, and will use an airplane patrol, carrying magnesium flares, in addition to fish trap patrol of 30 motorboats.
