Frolic Arthur Meeker, 55 years old. formerly of Seattle was watched closely by officers today to determine his sanity. United States Commissioner C. Austin said Meeker admitted killing Joseph Faden. 62, after dinner Wednesday while the boat was Craig. Meeker was charged with first-degree murder yesterday when the United States Bureau of Fisheries vessel, Teal, arrived with Meeker and the body of Faden. They said Meeker was placed in a strait-jacket when he became violent, and that he expressed fear someone was attempting to harm him. Meeker and Faden built the Frolic in Seattle three years ago, and have made their living fishing and trapping. Both formerly worked for the Seattle Municipal Railway. Faden and Meeker Built Boat Here Joseph Faden, shot to death on an Alaskan launch, and Arthur Meeker, held in connection with the murder, resigned from Seattle Municipal Railway in fall of 1934 to go to Alaska to and trap. Friends of long standing, they had built their gasoline boat together and had planned the Alaskan adventure for years. Meeker, a Spanish-America War veteran, worked for the Municipal Railway from July, 1922, to August, 1934. Faden resigned from the railway in November. 1934, after fourteen years' service. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order Eagles, which was arranging today to bring the body here for burial.
