Nome Bank Vault Protects Papers From Great Fire NOME, Alaska, Sept. 27.— (U.P.) —Rebuilding of burned Nome was under way today, following- unloading of lumber from the Alaska steamer Victoria of Seattle, first ship to arrive since the fire of September 14. Workmen were constructing a relief station, under direction of Bowen McCoy, Rod Cross official, who arrived from San Francisco. A crew of 160 men, hired with FERA funds, continued the work of clearing away burned debris. The vaults of the Nome bank were opened today, after cooling several days. Contents were found undamaged.
