Pullen, awarded the distinguished service cross by General Pershing for gallantry in action September it:, as announced today by the. war department, was the first cadet ever appointed to West Point Military academy from Alaska. Colonel Pullen's home is Skagway. He spent three years at the University of Washington, was appointed to West Point in 1908, and has been recognized by experts as one of the greatest football players ever turned out by the army school. He graduated from the academy in 1912. Colonel Pullen is 34 years old.
