Description
Summary:Day Is Shorter For Searchers. DAYS IS SHORTER FOR SEARCHERS FAIRBANKS, Alaska, Sept. 10. UP)—The days are getting shorter for those searching for the soviet transpolar flyers who were last heard from four weeks ago today. But there will not be total darkness from Barrow, Alaska, and Aklavik, N. W. T., to the north pole until December 21. This was disclosed today by Edward M. Vernon, meteorologist here from Oakland, Cal., to cooperate with the Fairbanks station in coordinating Alaska, Canadian and Siberian arctic weather reports for searchers. Right now in the arctic, Vernon said, there is more daylight than darkness, and on the 23rd of September autumnal equinox, day and night will be of equal length.
