Arctic Winter Closes on Search for Plane FAIRBANKS, Alaska. — (U.R)— The arctic winter began closing in today as daring airmen continued to search for six Russian flyers who failed to arrive here 11 days ago on a transpolar hop from Moscow. Sir Hubert Wilkins, noted arctic explorer, took his huge flying boat back to the mouth of the Coppermine river in the Northwest Territories of Canada after flying over the Beaufort sea Monday and going north of Banks island without sighting the missing plane.
