It came from Fairbanks, Alaska, and described his visit to the Matanuska Valley colony. It ended with: "You know, after all, there is a lot of difference in pioneering for gold and pioneering for spinach." That was the last dispatch from Will Rogers. By the time it appeared in print he was dead, the victim of an airplane crash while flying with Wiley Post from Fairbanks to Point Barrow.
