Summary:Steamship being equipped for offshore gold mining - THe first seagoing dredge equipped with clam shells and air apparatus is being prepared for an attack on the shore lines near the Kodiak islands, for which it will leave this country June 10, it was announced by Captain J. C. Benson, early navigator and California-Alaska gravel miner to the Northwest Mining association yesterday. It is a deep-sea steamship equipped with sluice boxes and every other demonstrated apparatus. The enterprise differs with others only in that it will operate mainly offshore.
