TACOMA, Wash., Oct. 19.—Loss may mount beyond the $300,000 mark in a spectacular blaze which swept the Clear Fir Lumber company plant at Day Island, a suburb, last night, fire department officials said today. The sawmill and dry kilns of the plant were totally destroyed, but the door factory, adjoining the sawmill, was saved. The entire plant had an insurable value of $650,000, Frost Snyder, president, said. The fire started from an undetermined origin and raged for three hours. Six Tacoma fire companies and the city fireboat battled the conflagration.
