Mark County's Historic Spots: Indian Battlefields, Hangman's Tree And Military Road Among Sites. The historic markers' committee of the Spokane County Pioneers' association will visit Granges at Four Lakes and Waverly Friday night to interest members in locating markers at historic places in their neighborhood. At Four Lakes an Indian battle ground is to be marked, and at Waverly the traces of an early military road. The association's historic sites project calls for markers at seven places in the county. Granite markers for the hangman's tree near Fairfield and the spot where Colonel George Wright signed a treaty with the Indians will be placed in the near I future, the plan having been indorsed by the Fairfield Grange. Other historic sites in the program are the Smedley bridge site on the Spokane river, the Indian poniess massacre site near Spokane Bridge, the old ferry site near the Hutton settlement, and the site of the Hudson Bay company's trading post east of Millwood. On the committee pushing the program are Sam Glasgow, chairman; D. T. Ham, A. A. Kelly and Gus Roche.
