(AP)—A tired mother who had brought her 9-month-old son by airplane and steamer 2000 miles to Seattle in an 11-day race to save his life was rewarded with the best of news today—"that the child would Jive." Arriving here last night on the liner Northwestern, which had steamed under forced draught from Cordova, Mrs. E.M. Nelson of Nome, Alaska, was first given the reassuring words by Dr. A. Drtina that the in rant, had a "fighting chance." Further examinations and a plan for special X-ray treatments then led the doctor to tell Mrs. Nelson that her efforts had meant the child would recover. With the infant suffering from a persistent thymus gland trouble, physicians at Nome told Mrs. Nelson the first of the month that it needed special treatments within three weeks in order to save its life.
