Summary:Moody Leaders Laud Response. MOODY LEADERS LAUD RESPONSE "We are heartily encouraged by the response of Spokane' ministers and churches," Dr. Herbert Lockyer of Liverpool, famous Bible teacher and writer, asserted today in commenting on Spokane's observance of the D. L. Moody centenary. "The meeting Sunday at the Revival Center tabernacle was less than remarkable," he speaking in a deep, resonant voice and with a slight British accent. "This is the first American city we have touched on our western trip and we were very anxious as to how we would be received." This morning Dr. Lockyer dressed the Spokane Ministerial association, his topic "The Ideal Minister." Himself a pastor for many years in England and Scotland, he left the pulpit to win world fame as a religious lecturer and writer. The Moody Bible institute team of 10 touched first at major Canadian cities, coming here from Vancouver, B. C. Half the team is now in Seattle and will change places with the Spokane group Wednesday. Speaks Again. Dr. Lockyer, main speaker at the Sunday meeting, will talk again at 7:30 o'clock tonight and at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Chauncey B. Nordland of Chicago was the speaker at this morning's meeting and Dr. William Evans of California spoke this afternoon. All sessions in the week-long program are at the Revival Center tabernacle. "I feel the way we come into a city and try to rally all Christian forces appeals to the churches," Dr. Lockyer continued. " Dr. Moody was bigger than any one denomination. We are trying to revive the religious spirit of his day. Nothing but such a revival can save our tottering civilization." The institute team southward, visiting Coast cities, then move eastward to complete, the tour at Memphis in December. Dr. Lockyer's program in the United States will be concluded at the founder's week conference in Chicago in February.
