Description
Summary:Arctic Wolves Kill Reindeer ARCTIC WOLVES KILL REINDEER-- JUNEAU, Alaska, Aug. 11.—(I.N. S.)—The "big bad wolf" and his growing number of Arctic cousins is to be the object of an intensive drive, it was decided today at a conference at the office of Gov. John Troy. A crisis at Barter Island and other points east of Barrow was disclosed by Harlan Gubser, special wolf hunter for the Alaskan Territory. Gubser declared the destitute condition of Eskimos near Point Barrow is due, almost entirely, to wholesale killing of reindeer by rapidly growing wolf packs. A bounty of $20 per wolf already is boins: pai dand other "assistance."
