(AP)— The Alaska game commission was informed today approximately 4000 reindeer were killed by wolves in the district between Barrow and Wain- wright during the winter. A letter from Charles Brower, veteran arctic trader and United States commissioner at Barrow, said Eskimos who made the check estimated wolves killed the deer at the rate of nearly 100 a day. He said it alro was found red foxes were killing off white foxes. Brower suggested action be taken against the marauding wolves. Frank Dufresne, assistant executive officer of the commission, immediately communicated with Stanley P. Young, in charge of game management for the United States biological survey at Washington. D. C, for tentative plans to send a man north to start a drive against wolves.
