Summary:Alaskan Reach Peace With Union ALASKANS REACH PEACEWITHUNION Ship Operators Announce Agreement With Men SEATTLE, Nov. 25 (AP) — The Alaska operators announced a settlement yesterday of the dispute between the three steamship lines serving the territory and the Marine Cooks' and Stewards' union, with the men returning to work under the former conditions of employment and ending a six-day tieup of Alaska shipping. Max Watson, union business agent,, said the settlement was "tentative." Ship to Go North The Northland Transportation company said the steamship North Sea would sail for the north at 10 A.M. Friday, and the Alaska Steamship company announced the Yukon would sail Saturday at 9 A. M. The men will return to work under the former conditions of employment, the union having withdrawn its demand for the rotation of cooks, stewards and waiters in vessels plying north to the territory, the operator said.
