Description
Summary:Haven For Alaska Ships HAVEN FOR ALASKA SHIPS Safe Anchorage Discovered in "Graveyard of the Aleutians." ABOARD THE EXPEDITION SHIP AMELIA, Aug. 26. (AP)—(Via wireless.) —Discovery of an anchorage at Bo- goslof island in the "graveyard of the Aleutians" was announced today by Father Bernard R. Hubbard, S. J., after a stay at the famous disappearing island which has puzzled arctic navigators for years. The anchorage was of inestimable value to ships in the Bering sea, the famous "glacier priest" said, providing a safe haven for vessels bound to and from Nome and other Bering sea ports.
