An 80-hour schedule—a new record between these two points—has been set up for the trip from Newark, N. J., to Fairbanks, Alaska. It was laid out with the active cooperation of Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh. The physicians, Dr. Horace Pettit and Dr. Sergeant Pepper, of the University of Pennsylvania's department of bacteriology, are making no "mercy" mission in the accepted sense of the They are carrying no serum to combat the Point Barrow epidemic, but instead expect to carry back with them samples of the germs from which more may be learned about the disease.
