White, president of the company, outlining the work on the company's property near Nome, Alaska, during the last season. The dredge began working June 27 and operated 64 days, cleaning up 1582 ounces of gold, valued approximately at $28,500. During the last 45 days of the work the dredge handled an average of 1500 yards a day at a value of 35 cents a yard. Work stopped October 10, when everything froze, the letter continues, also pointing out that this year was an extremely backward one in Alaska and that summer was 60 days late. The letter concludes with the earnest belief that Goldsmith "will pay dividends to its shareholders from the thoroughly tested area, which has been drilled and gold values of 60 cents a cubic yard ascertained, with an estimated yarding of 4,000,000 yards."
