Summary:These young watchers at protocols have either just finished or are awaiting their performance in the Big House at Chemainus First Nation. Images in this collection document the Nisqually Indian Tribe's participation in the Tribal Canoe Journeys, an annual celebration of canoe culture by Coast Salish peoples from British Columbia, Oregon, and Washington. In 2004, the event was known as the "Paddle to Chemainus," hosted by the Stz'uminus First Nation.
