Summary:Andrew F. Schultz was born in Berlin, Germany on April 17, 1873. He came with his parents to the United States in 1879. Andy grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota and came to Ellensburg, Washington in 1893. He moved here to run the Northern Pacific lunch counter and dining room. During the Klondike Gold Rush he sold his station to James Shaw and cooked in cafes in Skagway, Alaska Territory and other points north. Andy came back to Ellensburg in the fall of 1898 and went into a candy business on Pearl Street which he sold in August 1932 to William F. Webster. He was first married to a Miss Smith of Ellensburg, but they divorced after two years. He then married Minnie Koepke. Andy was an enthusiastic community booster for over 50 years. He was a long-time member of the Elks Lodge Number 1102. He served on the city council and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He donated the land the Ellensburg General Hospital was built on. Andy died in his home on 609 North Pearl Street in Ellensburg on March 17, 1951 at the age of 77 years.
