Description
Summary:In these master’s theses there are analysed works of seven distinct young Lithuania stage designers, debuted in last ten years. Vega Vaičiūnaitė. After finishing scenery studies in Lithuania Art Institute (from 1992 -Vilnius Art Academy) she started to work in professional theatre and TV where she created nearly twenty set designs. But in 1995 she established troupe of theatrical visions “Miraklis” (“Miracle”). In creating street fire, puppets and music visions she works not only as a set designer, but also as a director and a playwright. Jūratė Paulėkaitė. She has debuted in Lithuania drama’s theatre fifteen years ago being a student of Lithuania Art Institute. Most of her works are made with theatre directors Algirdas Latėnas and Jonas Vaitkus. In 1997-1998 theatre season she created set designs for such remarkable productions as “Roberto Zucco” (dir. Oskaras Koršunovas, Lithuania State Academic Drama’s Theatre) and “Heda Gabler” (dir. Gintaras Varnas, Kaunas State Academic Drama’s Theatre). Vytautas Narbutas. After finishing scenery studies in 1990 he has created more than twenty set designs mostly with three different theatre directors: Rimas Tuminas (Vilnius Small Theatre, Lithuania State Akademic Drama’s Theatre and abroad (in Finland and Iceland), Cezaris Graužinis (Lithuania Youth Theatre, Lithuania State Akademic Drama’s Theatre) and Linas Marijus Zaikauskas (Russian Drama’s Theatre). Žilvinas Kempinas. He has finished painting studies in Vilnius Art Institute. In 1994 young theatre director Oskaras Koršunovas has invited him to work together and he has made three set designs for his productions in Lithuania State Academic Drama’s Theatre. These performances are unique in Lithuania stage design because of non-traditional solutions. Auris Radzevičius. He has worked in the theatre set design before and during his studies in Lithuania Art Academy (he finished them in 1995). Most of his works are created in Kaunas State Academic Drama’s Theatre with director Gytis Padegimas. During ten years he created original ironic style working with objects on the stage. Marijus Jacovskis. Young theatre stage designer has finished stage design studies in Vilnius Art Academy jest two years ago. In 1995 and 1996 he mostly worked in Lithuania Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 1997 he started to create stage design in Lithuania State Academic Drama’s Theatre. Benas Šarka. Director and actor of non-professional theatre. Author of “Gliukų” troupe performances in Klaipėda. His productions distinguish for original use by association of ideas from everyday objects. The main purpose of this work was to collect and to analyse the material of these mentioned artists’ creation in last ten years (from 1989 to 1998). The most of the stuff was taken during the time of theatrical events or performances because the Contemporary Art in Lithuania Drama’s Theatre are not analysed in specialised articles before. In conclusions there are mentioned that young Lithuania drama’s theatre designers follow atmospheric traditions started in 60s-70s by Adomas Jacovskis and Janina Malinauskaitė. They didn’t create like separate works of art inside the productions, but collaborate with directors, actors and other creative authors of the performance. They are strong in creating performance visual side, active during rehearsals of concrete mise en scene as well as in scenery manufacture.
