Summary:In the paper it is analyzed the historical development and changes of forest habitats of European Community importance during the period 1985-2022. The object of the work is the areas of forest habitats of European Community importance inventoried in Skaistgiris forest district of Radviliškis regional district, State Forest Enterprise, selected from the database www.geoportal.lt. The aim of the study is to determine the impact of economic activities on forest habitats of European Community importance over a period of 37 years. 5 predominant habitat types were selected – 9020 Fennoscandian hemiboreal natural old broad – leaved deciduous forests, 9050 Fennoscandian herb-rich forest with Picea abies, 9080 Fennoscandian deciduous swamp woods, 91E0 Sub-Atlantic and medio-European oak oro ak-hornbeam 9160 Sub-Atlantic and medio-European oak or oak-hornbeam forests. Taxation data from the archives of forest regional unit of 2012, 2002, 1985 are collected, data from the Forest Reading Program also used. Harvesting at EC headquarters was found to be intense. The obtained results show that the average felled volume per 1 ha was significantly higher in the stands where the EC importance Natural forest habitats were not inventoried comparing to the control commetricially mature stands. According to the results of the study, it can be assumed that the habitats of EC importance are purposefully identified, untouched, or minimally affected by economic activities, thus meets the requirements of the Habitats Standard.
