Description
Summary:This paper describes an environmental footprint calculation method developed in a three-year R&D project "Construction and intervention vessels for Arctic oil and gas operations", funded by the Research Council of Norway. This paper shortly describes what matters should be considered when evaluating the environmental footprint of ships. As the project was a vessel design project, the effort was put on the operational phase of ship's life cycle and on the emissions to air related to energy consumption in particular. Also emissions to water are shortly discussed.
