Summary:This statistical summary contains the numbers of unemployed jobseekers, generated in the Employment Service Statistics and presented by municipality. It also contains the percentage of unemployed jobseekers in the workforce. The information on unemployed jobseekers from 2015 is presented as average monthly figures. The labour data by municipality, from which the proportion of unemployed jobseekers is calculated, is from the employment statistics of Statistics Finland from 2013. The figure in question is used when calculating the percentage in all of the months of the year. The concept of unemployed jobseekers includes those jobseekers who were unemployed on the last working day of the month - the day of calculation - as well as those made temporarily redundant who had reported to an Employment and Economic Development Office. The highest average percentages of unemployed jobseekers in the workforce in 2015 were in the areas of Pelkosenniemi (23.0%), Salla (22.8%), Karstula (20.8%), Posio (20.7%), Savukoski (20.7%), Saarijärvi (20.4%) and Tohmajärvi (20.2%). Correspondingly, the lowest percentages in Continental Finland were in the following municipalities: Pedersöre (3.8%), Luoto (3.8%), Närpiö (4.3%) and Uusikaarlepyy (4.6%). In addition, the percentages of unemployed jobseekers in the workforce were very low in all municipalities in the Åland Islands, with the lowest in Sottunga (0.0%), Föglö (1.5%) and Lumparland (2.1%). In most municipalities the average rate rose in 2015 from the previous year. The greatest rise was in Miehikkälä (3.7 percentage points), Hailuoto (3.4 percentage points), Karstula (3.2 percentage points) and Virolahti (3.0 percentage points). Correspondingly the greatest drop in 2015 was in the municipalities of Paltamo (-2.5 percentage points), Kemijärvi (-1.9 percentage points), Pelkosenniemi ( 1.7 percentage points), Merijärvi (-1.3 percentage points), Vårdö ( 1.2 percentage points) and Ristijärvi (-1.2 percentage points).
