Plant, which had a notorious reputation for accidents. It said said that the ship was "hoodoo," and people often avoided it. When the Alaska Coast Co. renamed it, the company had hopes that it could be a first-class vessel and escape its reputation. Renovated and named the Yukon, she began service in 1912. She never escaped her reputation, however, as she struck a reef on June 18, 1913 while leaving the Bering Sea.
