Summary:About the Piece: "This mask was carved and assembled in the Yup'ik tradition by Paul White in the Copper River Valley, Alaska. The wood is Cottonwood and was collected in Ninilchik at the mouth of the Deep Creek near Kenai, Alaska. The natural color of this piece is caused from the sand and mud it was buried in. It is adorned with: 6 Black Tail Deer rib bones . collected in Cordova, Alaska. The Fur is Cross Fox . from Copper Valley, Alaska. The eye is Caribou antler . a shed antler found near Lake Louise, Alaska and is attached with a copper nail. 4 Spruce Grouse tail feathers . found in Nelchina, Alaska. The Kayak is carved from Cottonwood bark.from Valdez, Alaska. The tip on the spear is fossilized Walrus Ivory and is 500 to 1000 years old . collected on St. Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea and is attached with sinew."
