The Beasleys are Tlingit and thus this piece carries the image of the imprint of a hand indicating it is authentic native handcraft from Alaska. The circles in the print are executed in 22k gold leafing. A trailsman is a trader or merchant who moves between tribes and clans. He is guided on his trips by carvings on trees, which serve some of the functions road signs do in contemporary road systems. Artist information: Richard Beasley (Rick) was born on 11/20/57, grew up in Juneau, Alaska and presently lives there. He graduated in 1983 from the UW with a BFA in Metal Design. The Trailsman bears his copyright.
